As 2017 was wrapping up I got the opportunity to help the San Franisco based meditation and wellness service Calm.com with photographing a new product line they were launching for the holidays.

The product (a gift box containing an essential oil mister, book, and gift certificate) was pretty but quite neutral. On it’s own it made a difficult straight product shot. Calm.com contact me to create some lifestyle product photography after seeing my product work (including my Studio of Design gallery). The brief was for cozy, calm, holiday lifestyle vibes with the product featured prominently. I connected with the very talented prop stylist Gina Winter and proceeded to learn all about hygge.

I’m excited to be able to share work like this. Translating the higher level concepts of “lifestyle” photography into product like this is a great meditation on storytelling and detail.
